The project begins

I have been dreaming about building a small model railway in our garden for over fifteen years.

This blog is to allow me to share my progress with those who are interested.

If you have been following our adventures in Africa and get updates from this blog, feel free to delete these posts, or to unsubscribe, if you are not interested in G-scale model railways.

The overall idea is to have an indoor section in what we term the under-garage, a building at one end of our garden, and then an outdoor section running through the garden.

The first challenge is to empty the undergarage:

The garden also needs some attention! (you can see the door to the undergarage hidden behind the undergrowth).

    Hi, Adam

I have the greatest sympathy with you garage issues: five years after we moved to Chideock, one wall of of our garage is still stacked four high and two deep with cardboard boxes.

The knock-on is that all the other spaces in the house are full of stuff that should be in the garage. (Except the car. No-one puts cars in their garage!)

Last year I was going to tackle it, this year I definitely will. If it’s been in there for 5 years we obviously don’t need it!

I can’t pretend to be a model railway aficionado, but hope to to see the finished product one day!

    All the best.

    Dear Adam,
To turn your garden into a railway÷track I would propose a slash÷and-burn method.
They say it brings good results in the Amazon
    Jungle.
    Best regards, Herms

  7. I think you should have the wild garden checked out to see if there are any plants or animals of scientific interest. It is really sad to destroy this wild space
