After the tragic flooding in April, the rain continued into May. The first three days of May had as much rainfall as is normal for the whole month. However, since then there has been some sun, and today, apart from some light showers around 6.30am, there has been no rain all day, after 20 continuous days of rain. It was wonderful.
The Kenyan Minister for the Interior was at the school today, using it as a base to review the situation in the surrounding area. Two hundred families are being evacuated from areas which could be in danger if dams in the mountains breach. Fortunately RVA is not in the risk zone.
I have been asked how those far from Kijabe could help with the aftermath of the flooding.
One way to help would be to pray for those affected by the tragedy. Families are gathering to bury their relatives and discussing how to move forward.
Another way to help would be to contribute to a fund which has been set up to help those affected by the flooding.
You can can give via the following link: AIM Europe Donations.
After making the donation, please email Katuska Davies at accountsofficer.eu@aimint.org with the email confirmation of your payment and with the comment “Flood relief”. That way AIM Europe can make sure the donation is allocated correctly, since it is not possible to identify this on the donation page.
Thankyou for anything you can do to help.
