Today is the last full day of our Africa Based Orientation in Nairobi. We have finished our three week programme of lectures, activities and outings. We have learnt something about the early history of Christianity in Africa, of African culture and world view, of spiritual warfare and African art. We have learnt that Africa is so diverse, we cannot really talk of African things.
We have visited a local market and tried to speak some rudimentary Kiswahili. We also visited a local mall, and enjoyed an Italian ice cream. We have visited a local mosque, learnt something about Islam and its followers, and have experienced some of the diversity of Kenyan church services.
We have learnt about team dynamics, about maintaining mental health, about security.
We have started to form friendships, both with those who will accompany us to Rift Valley Academy, and others who will be taking on much harder challenges, in the rural villages of Tanzania, Madagascar or Chad, or in the towns of North Africa. Even though we have only known them three weeks, we will miss them.

Tomorrow we take a bus to the Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, to face new challenges.
